4 traditions to check off

Stamped! keeps these as a checklist, so you can tick each one off on the visit.

  • Fire Up, Chips!

"Fire Up, Chips!" is Central's greeting and rallying cry. At a football game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium, jingle your keys before big plays and mime crashing cymbals with the crowd.

  • Warriner Hall Chimes

Chimes have sounded from Warriner Hall since 1939, and today recorded chimes greet each new hour. Stand on Warriner Mall and listen for them on the hour.

  • Cardboard Boat Race

On Homecoming morning, engineering students try to paddle boats made of cardboard across the Rose Ponds. Find a spot on the bank and cheer them on.

  • Celebrating Life Pow Wow

Each March, Central hosts the Celebrating Life Pow Wow in McGuirk Arena, with traditional dancing, drumming, arts and food. It is open to the public, so come and watch.
