4 traditions to check off

Stamped! keeps these as a checklist, so you can tick each one off on the visit.

  • Ypsilanti Water Tower

Built in 1890 on the highest point in Ypsilanti, the stone water tower borders the campus and is the city's best-known landmark. Locals give directions by it, so take a photo with it.

  • The Pray-Harrold Kiosk

Covering the kiosk outside Pray-Harrold with flyers for campus events is a longstanding Eastern tradition. Stop by and read what's happening this week.

  • Concert at Pease Auditorium

Pease Auditorium has been the campus concert hall since 1915. Catch a performance and listen for its 81-rank Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ.

  • The Ghost of Starkweather Hall

Campus legend says Mary Ann Starkweather, who paid for the hall, haunts it because it no longer serves the religious purpose she intended. Walk past the oldest building on campus and look up at its tower.
